Welcome!

The objective of this course is threefold:

  1. Introduce you to the advantages and disadvantages of gamification in the learning process;
  2. Help you implement gamification in your training courses thanks to Level Up XP;
  3. Give you the basics of an easy methodology to design courses integrating gamification.

At the end of the course you will be able to script a simple gamified course integrating the benefits of the Level Up XP plug-in, and in turn your learners will experience the advantages of learning modules with integrated rewards, level progression, ranking, and more!

Who are we?

We are the designers of the Level Up XP plug-in for Moodle 😄

Who better than us to support you in its implementation?

But we wanted to give you more than just a user guide; for us, gamification is much more than a click on a checkbox. That's why we want to give you the keys to understanding what gamification is all about and why it's useful.

And of course, we will guide you step by step through how to implement gamification using Level Up XP in your own courses!

What is Level Up XP?

Level Up XP is a Moodle plug-in that aims to increase the engagement, motivation and involvement of learners in three ways:

  1. Fun: finding motivation

  2. Competitive: increase self-esteem

  3. Collaborative: shared learning

With Level Up XP, which creates additional blocks in Moodle, you can easily integrate game elements and provide a heightened experience for your learners.

Our promise

We'll teach you how to incorporate meaningful gamification into your course, so your learners learn better, and we'll show you how to do it practically with Level Up XP.

Is this course an example of gamification?

No, but we thought about it 🙂. Indeed, we could have taken you on a gamified course with Level Up XP. However, we made another choice, which you will soon appreciate as we go through this course. After analysing our audience and our educational objectives, it seemed too complex to meet all your needs in a subtle and targeted way using a gamification approach in this course. Instead, we have opted for a simple & straightforward approach of explanation and contextualisation, while providing you with various examples and leads to introduce you to different approaches to gamification.
